About Kathy Chu
“Feel the connection with your higher power,” Kathy Chu tells her class of aspiring yogis, as they pause in a meditative pose under the shade of an oak tree. Her message is part of a philosophy that Kathy has embraced since delving deep into yoga to cope with the pressures of running a million-dollar business, and one that has reshaped her life through healing and enlightenment.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kathy initially set out on a more conventional path. She studied Tourism and Hospitality at the Collins College of Hospitality Management, before starting a mega-successful business, catering to professional athletes. By her late twenties, she had it all, and yet she found herself feeling stressed out and emotionally off-balance. So, having already practiced yoga for more than a decade, she decided to make it a more central part of her life, by becoming a certified yoga teacher.
It was while pursuing certification that Kathy began realigning not only her physical body but also her inner self. While engaging in training courses and yoga retreats, she gained the ability to heal from past traumas and to deepen her connection with her higher power. Then, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, she decided to follow her intuition and embark on a new path. She gave up her former enterprise to devote herself fully to delivering the holistic benefits of yoga to the local community – and beyond.
Kathy offers public, private, and virtual classes, and can often be found giving group lessons at Garfield Park, in the leafy suburb of South Pasadena. She is committed to expanding her reach and invites you to be a part of her journey, and by doing so to enhance your own journey by achieving physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, and above all, a sense of inner peace.
